Washington Capitals loose 2nd in a Row!

Last night the great 8 and the boys in red traveled to Vancouver to do battle with the Canucks. The Caps trying to get back on track after a tough 5-2 loss to the Calgary Flames on Saturday. Last night Neuvirth was beneath the pipes for a struggling Braden Holtby, lets see if that can make a difference.

In the 1st period in 11:31 it was the Canucks that struck 1st, a goal by Zack Kassian gets one past Neuvirth, Caps down 1-0. Then in 14:36 Jason Chimera puts one in the net for the good guys! his 4th of the season. At the end of the 1st period were tied 1-1. A very dirty 1st period though, a total of 5 penalties; 3 against Vancouver and 2 against the Capitals. Including in 1:19 it was Alexander Elder tripping the great 8 on a break away, which lead to a penalty shot for Ovi; that was stopped by the Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo.

The 2nd period a back and forth defensive stalemate, neither team able to put one in between the pipes. 2 Penalties this period called against the Caps one on Mike Green 2 minutes for delaying game, and Tom Wilson got 2 minutes for cross checking.

The 3rd period in 1:52 Mikhail Grabovski puts one in for the red! his 5th of the season. That would be the last Capitals goal for this one, unfortunately not the case for the Canucks! In 2:53 Ryan Kesler puts one in the net past Neuvirth for the Canucks, and the nail in the coffin for the Caps in 5:01 Daniel Sedin canucks one past Neuvirth! for the Final 3-2 victory for Vancouver! In addition 2 penalties called against the Capitals one against Nicklas Backstrom  for tripping, and Steve Oleksy for slashing. The Caps had a total of 6 penalties called against them tonight def not good. However the defense played well in the 1st two periods, just not in the 3rd. This is the 2nd straight game where  Ovi has failed to put one in the net. The Caps fall to 5-7 and have lost 2 in a row, hopefully they can fare better for a wild Friday night game in Philly against the broad street bullies. Its really hard to gauge this team this season whether they are on the right track or not, hopefully soon we will see some consistency on side or the other.
